The Eastside Lions Rugby Club - Home of Youth Rugby on the Seattle East Side
For the health and safety of players and their families, Rugby Washington have cancelled the Spring 2020 season. USA Rugby has also cancelled all Spring competitions. The Eastside Lions Youth Rugby coaches and board are working through options however we will post recommendations on how our players can keep active while under lockdown here, on Instagram and Facebook.
We have multiple boys and girls teams catering for grades 1-12, and serve more than 160 players from the Greater Eastside area.
The Eastside Lions Youth Rugby covers Clyde Hill, Bellevue, Mercer Island, Redmond, Kirkland, Renton, Sammamish, Bothell and Snohomish
Our sister club, The Mountain Lions, covers Issaquah, Snoqualmie, North Bend, Fall City, , Carnation, Preston, and Duvall areas.
We play 15's format in the Winter and Spring and 7's format in the Summer.
We have a proud history of mentoring and developing character, sportsmanship and teamwork in young athletes through the wonderful game of rugby.
Our coaches are USA Rugby Certified. Many hail from some of the most respected rugby-playing nations across the world where they played and coached rugby at all levels. We take our mission seriously, and so you'll see our coaches spend many long hours on a dark rainy night passionately imparting their knowledge to unlock the potential in each and every boy or girl.
We are committed to building the best high school girls rugby program in the state of Washington. Our High School program has been very successful in developing our girls into great rugby players with great team spirit and an exceptionally strong team bond. Rugby is played throughout the world by men and women, boys and girls. There are over 6.6million players across 120 countries participating in rugby on a regular basis.
Players are attracted to Rugby because of its unique character-building values.
Our sport is built upon the principles of camaraderie, fair play, respect and teamwork. Every player knows these principles are more important than winning or losing.
From the earliest steps in our sport, players are taught the basics of playing fair, enjoying the game and respecting the officials and opponents alike.
The club is proud of all those players who develop at Eastside Lions however its especially rewarding when they progress to college rugby. In just the last two decades, coaches are finally realizing the tremendous impact they can have on their win/loss record and the respect of their athletes by coaching the mental game.
However, many athletes never quite cross the 10,000 hour finish line, and have used the scapegoat reason, “I just didn’t have enough time to commit to the sport.”
Starting this spring, we are excited to add an adult league to the Mt Hood Soccer club…
